Cryptocoryne Wendtii ‘Tropica’ In Vitro Aquarium Plant – Small

Cryptocoryne wendtii ‘Tropica’ is a compact and attractive aquarium plant with dark bronze-brown leaves and a distinctive rippled or hammered texture. Its low, spreading rosette growth makes it ideal for the foreground or lower midground of planted aquariums, including smaller tanks and nano aquascapes.

When planted in an open area, the leaves often spread horizontally across the substrate rather than growing directly upwards. A mature plant generally reaches approximately 10–20 cm tall and can form a rosette around 10–20 cm wide.

This is a hardy and adaptable Cryptocoryne suitable for beginners. It grows under low to medium aquarium lighting and tolerates shaded positions beneath taller plants. Additional CO₂ is not essential, although regular fertilisation and a nutrient-rich substrate can encourage stronger growth. It is also suitable for harder freshwater.

Over time, the plant produces underground runners and daughter plants, gradually developing into a natural-looking group of compact rosettes.

In vitro small portion

This product contains the full plant contents of one small in vitro tub. In vitro plants are cultivated under controlled laboratory conditions and are free from snails, algae and pesticides, making them suitable for planted shrimp and fish aquariums.

Please note that the plant will be removed from its original tub and carefully repacked for transportation. This reduces the parcel size and helps protect the plant during delivery. You will still receive the full plant contents of one small in vitro tub.

Plant care

The size, growth rate, rosette habit and tolerance of harder water are based on Tropica’s published profile for this variety.

How to plant

1. Carefully remove the plant from its transport packaging.
2. Rinse away all remaining clear growing gel using clean water.
   
3. Plant each portion into a suitable aquarium substrate using tweezers.
4. Cover the roots while keeping the crown, where the leaves meet the roots, just above the substrate.
5. Leave a small space between the portions to allow the rosettes to spread.

Cryptocoryne plants can occasionally lose some older leaves after being introduced into a new aquarium. This is commonly known as Crypt melt and may occur while the plant adapts to different water and lighting conditions. Leave healthy roots in the substrate and maintain stable conditions, as new submerged leaves can develop.
