These plants have been grown emersed (above water), meaning the leaves may display different colours and shapes compared to their submerged form. Once placed into the aquarium, the original emersed-grown leaves will naturally melt back as the plant adapts to underwater conditions. New submerged growth will then emerge with vibrant red coloration when provided with suitable conditions.

Ammannia Crassicaulis is considered a more advanced aquarium plant and requires stable water parameters along with strong lighting to thrive. For the best colouration and healthy growth, bright lighting, CO₂ injection, and regular fertiliser dosing are strongly recommended.
