Cryptocoryne Affinis Red is an excellent choice for beginners thanks to its low-maintenance nature and easy care. It thrives in low to medium light but will grow healthier with better lighting. As with many Cryptocoryne species, the color and shape of its leaves can vary depending on the aquarium's conditions. When emerged, the leaves are typically green or olive green with a brownish-red hue. It prefers a nutrient-rich substrate, so placing root tabs beneath the plants is recommended for optimal growth.

Cryptocoryne plants are sensitive to changes in water conditions. A 'Cryptocoryne melt' is a common occurrence when a plant is introduced to a new tank or experiences significant shifts in its environment, such as changes in lighting intensity, pH, GH, KH, water changes, water quality, plant relocation, temperature, or fertilization. Even established plants can undergo melting. In such cases, it's helpful to prune the affected leaves, allowing the plant to focus on producing new growth instead of maintaining the old, damaged leaves. There's no need to worry—your plant will start to recover within a month or even sooner, depending on the conditions."
